Her Majesty The Queen replies

Following my letter to Her Majesty concerning the honour awarded to Professor Meirion Francis Lewis, I have had the following reply:

Dear Mr. Smith,

The Queen has asked me to thank you for your letter of 2nd July.

Her Majesty has taken careful note of your comments regarding the honour awarded to Professor Meirion Lewis in 1999. I should explain, however, that recommendations for the award or removal of honours are made to The Queen by the Prime Minister, to whom your letter has been forwarded.
